Lightning in a Jar

A bitcoin wallet for on-chain and Lightning that runs in your browser. It is pure Lightning, with no custodian or operator set standing between you and your money. Your bitcoin key is your Lightning key, so you can take it to any ordinary bitcoin wallet and walk away whenever you like. Built on the LIJOX standard: no gatekeepers, and providers compete for your business. Written in Rust, runs as WebAssembly, and works offline when it has to. Your bank would never let you do this.

  • Push KeyLock sats in your own channel and text the key. Whoever opens it takes the sats; if nobody does, they come back.
  • Black startRecover with only the 12 words, even when the phone, the backup and the provider are all gone.
  • MixCoinjoin pools with no coordinator, built as LIJOX's Tatara on the public joinstr v2 code.
  • Silent paymentsSend and receive. Listed on silentpayments.xyz.
  • ChitsHand someone a spending limit as a link; they pay a shop and the change comes back.
  • Register modeA phone on the counter becomes the customer display.
  • Running totalsThe balance after every row, fees included.
  • NWC zapsA zap inside your limits pays at once.
  • Log in with your walletSign in to sites with your Lightning key.

LIJOX

An open standard and registry for Lightning service providers. Anyone with a Lightning node can run the adapter, list as a provider and serve wallets, with no permission needed. Providers carry the always-on work: holding payments while a phone sleeps, holding every wallet's Black start kit and hosting Mix pools. Control and privacy stay with the wallet.

  • Open registryEach provider signs its own listing, and wallets read every registry. No one approves who gets in.
  • Providers competeFees and terms are published in each listing, and a wallet can switch providers.
  • Payments heldA payment to a sleeping phone waits at the provider and is delivered when the wallet opens.
  • Black start kitsEvery provider holds every wallet's sealed recovery kit.
  • Mix poolsProviders host the pools and their relay; the wallet keeps its own keys.
  • Runs beside LNDThe adapter runs on the operator's own node, from a mini PC to an Umbrel.
Two providers live. Start9 and RaspiBlitz operators being set up.

Each project here grows by adding people: operators to run it, partners to sell or integrate it, and capital to scale it. If you can bring one of those, get in touch.
